Danny Dorling is the Halford Mackinder Professor of Geography at the University of Oxford and author of many books including Injustice: Why social inequalities persist (2015) and, with others, The social atlas of Europe (2014). He is Honorary President of the Society of Cartographers and a patron of Roadpeace, the national charity for road crash victims.

Bethan Thomas is retired and last worked in academia as a Research Fellow at the Department of Geography, University of Sheffield. She completed her PhD at the University of Leeds in 2004. She has authored a variety of books including People and places: A 2001 Census atlas of the UK (2007) and Bankrupt Britain (2011). She has pioneered new ways of census mapping which have now been widely adopted across the UK.
