Many British citizens are likely to be impoverished as a result. Those without citizenship already live in great fear. So, can we actually afford to walk out on this relationship?<\/p>\n<p>Danny Dorling&#8217;s annual lecture on Brexit given at the Hay Festival on May 25th 2018, speaking with Tom Clark of <em>Prospect Magazine<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"background-color: transparent; display: block; padding: 0; max-width: 700px;\" title=\"Audioboom player\" src=\"\/\/embeds.audioboom.com\/posts\/6873265-can-the-uk-afford-to-leave-the-eu\/embed\/v4?eid=AQAAAHPEClux4GgA\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Brexit, the UK will almost certainly leave, but mainly in name only, and mainly because its politicians simply can\u2019t afford to do much other than that &#8211; its all a bit humiliating.<\/p>\n<p>But perhaps we\u2019ll learn a lot about ourselves in the process and grow up a bit as a set of nations?
