Back in 2016 you would not have thought it<!--more-->, given all the news \u2013 so often full of war and terror. The media did not report good news then. And there was so much good news that they could have reported. In the UK murder rates were at a twenty-five year low and falling. In a population of over 64 million, less than two people were being killed by others a day. Of course there are more of us now living on the island and the murder rate is even lower, but the most rapid decline happened back then.
